Open house in ExistenzGründungszentrum Stade (EGS -- business founders centre)

The City of Stade hosted an open house at the ExistenzGründungszentrum Stade (EGS) on 12/09/2003.

The ExistenzGründungszentrum Stade is a project of the City of Stade initiated by the Promoter of Economic Development, Thomas Friedrichs, and the Representative for Women’s Affairs, Karina Holst. Together they have supported companies in their foundation and growth phase, provided contacts for foundation networks and offered consulting for companies in the EGS since the start of the year.

Over 150 visitors took advantage of the opportunity to get to know the ExistenzGründungszentrum Stade at the open house.

The event was opened by Stade’s mayor, Hans-Hermann Ott. Before an audience of numerous representatives politics, administration, chambers, organizations, banks, neighbours, and prospective business founders, Ott explained how the idea of a business founders centre came about.

After an intensive discussion amongst the political bodies and preparatory work by the city’s representative of Women’s Affairs, Karina Holst, and the Promoter of Economic Development, Thomas Friedrichs, the centre was opened in the rented rooms at Carl-Goerdeler-Weg 8 in Stade-Ottenbeck.

Ott said that for the City of Stade the “business founders centre is an important building block of active policy regarding small to medium-sized companies”. “In this way the we are pursuing the goal of providing better support for small and medium-sized companies and of further improving the climate for self-employment in Stade.”

After the opening, Holst and Friedrichs introduced the companies at the business founders centre. Four companies are already located there.

During the course of the day, interested parties had the opportunity to obtain information about founding a business at the centre. There are still one 14 and one 27-square-meter room available. Since the City is currently in negotiations with further interested parties, we expect that the Business Founders Centre will soon be fully occupied.

In order to meet the demands of numerous interested parties, the city will start with the plans to redevelop the building on Heidbecker Damm. The building, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the future urban social and youth office, was purchased at the end of 2002. This will create the possibility to work in a customized and modern workplace.
