AES Abwasserentsorgung Stade (Stade sewage disposal) provides safety and quality

Already since January 2006, AES Stade sewage disposal has been working on the basis of integrated management systems in order to systematically improve quality and environmental protection standards. On 11 and 12 May this year, official external certification was obtained. Therefore, AES fulfils all the requirements of a modern enterprise in the service sector.

The management systems mainly aim for the following targets:

Safety of disposal, as well as trouble-free and economic operation of sewage disposal facilities
Environmentally compatible treatment and discharge of treated waste water into the Schwinge river, as well as
Supply of flawless quality products and services to AES customers.

The introduction of management systems has resulted in significant advantages in the areas of organisational safety, legal security, identification of errors, transparency as to operational procedures, documentation and improvement of customer satisfaction. DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 quality standard is an

internationally recognized and applied norm for enterprises in the industrial and service sector.

According to this practice and process orientated model, all procedures in the enterprise and overall performance are described in order to control, coordinate, monitor and continually improve them.

As a modern eco-political tool, the EC Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS II) for environmental protection relies on voluntary participation and goes beyond the legal provisions. On a regular basis, an environmental statement of concrete objectives for the improvement of the company’s environmental performance is established and is made available to the public. AES counts among the first sewage disposal undertakings nationwide that have already introduced this management system. At present, AES is the only enterprise in Lower-Saxony.
Technologically, the environmental impacts caused by enterprises are reduced to a minimum by running state-of-the-art installations and facilities. At the same time, a high level of plant availability and efficiency for a smooth operation of the facilities is aimed for. AES wants to at least meet all requirements contained in legal provisions and licences, and to surpass them, if possible. This project has been successful: the values of the treated waste water discharged into the Schwinge river remained significantly under the officially approved limits.
