Information from Stade Registry Office

We would like to provide you with some noteworthy facts and figures for the year 2007 from the Stade registry office:

1.Marriages

In the year 2007, 238 couples were married in Stade (compared to 245 couples in 2006 and 268 in 2005). So the number of civil marriages is further declining.

37 couples who reside in Stade decided to get married at a different place. On the other hand, 49 couples residing outside of town chose Stade as place of marriage.

39 of the 238 civil marriages in 2007 took place on a Saturday, 132 on a Friday and 67 on weekdays from Monday to Thursday.

90 % of the married couples decided in favour of a common family name of husband and wife, and 93 % of these couples chose the husband's name as their family name.

Among those entering into marriage, the following nationalities were represented:
American, Armenian, British, French, Italian, Latvian, Moroccan, Dutch, Austrian, Polish, Russian, Serbian, Syrian, Turkish and Ukrainian

234 of the marriage ceremonies held in 2007 took place inside the marriage room of the registry office at the historic town hall. Other chosen venues included 2 marriage ceremonies performed in the so-called Alte Land farmhouse on the Island, and 2 marriage ceremonies inside the fort of Grauerort.

There were no civil partnerships registered in 2007.
(Compared to 2 in 2006 and 3 in 2005)

Divorces: Within the area of responsibility of Stade registry office, a total of 103 divorces were registered in the respective records of family details in 2007 (compared to 115 in 2006).

5.Special news from Stade registry office

Since summer 2007, Stade registry office has had produced the enclosed wedding brochure (financed by advertising). This brochure provides assistance for all couples wishing to get married in connection with their wedding arrangements. The booklet can be obtained at the registry office, in all municipal public buildings and also from the companies involved. The brochure has been very well received.

In addition, the registry office took part in a wedding fair for the first time on 10 February of this year. The fair, which took place at the Stadeum in Stade, was a great success for us. 9 couples fixed a wedding date on the spot. The event also offered us a good opportunity to talk to couples interested in getting married, in a more relaxed and informal environment.
